A stroll through Estrela, passing by its imposing Basilica and the charming neighborhood of Campo de Ourique, culminating in the beautiful romantic cemetery from the 19th century, Prazeres. Cemeteries are places that attract with their architecture, art, history, symbolism, and memory. They are also endless sources of photographic inspiration and serenity. Understanding how the “city of the dead” is organized, how it is influenced by the city of the living and vice versa, and discovering the peculiarities of Portuguese cemeteries are some of the points of interest on this tour. It’s an original and undoubtedly surprising experience, a kind of encounter between life and “eternity”. Not to mention the surprising panoramic view that the cemetery “hides”. As an alternative to the cemetery of Prazeres, we have the Alto de S.João as an option.
